Happy Ostara!
Today is the Wiccan Sabbat, Ostara, or the Spring Equinox. Today is celebrated in honor of the Goddess Ostara (Or Eostra) who is the Teutonic Goddess of spring and fertility. Wiccans dye eggs, and have egg hunts and eat chocolate bunnies. I know that the Christians do that too on Easter (they got the name from Ostara) but tell me, what the hell eggs and bunnies have to do with the crucifixion?
Nothing. Like Eddie Izzard says, the eggs are for fertility and the bunnies are for shagging. There were no bunnies at the crucifixion and they did not color eggs in honor of Jesus' gruesome death or supposed reserection (or however you spell it.)
This time of year is also a good time to buy a ritual broom for sweeping away negative energy in your ritual space.
Happy Ostara!

Yule, Orgasm Day, and Happy Fucking Holidays!!
Only two more days until Yule!! On Friday my kids and I will open our first round of presents, and then finish up opening with my Catholic family on Christmas Eve. I'd better hurry the hell up and finish my holiday shopping then!!
And don't forget, dear readers, that Friday (The Winter Solstice and the Wiccan Yule) is Global Orgasm Day. So whip out your toys, your hand, or your partner and have a big O in the interests of peace on earth!! I had stocked up on batteries, but went through them all already so I'll have to go out and buy more!
In other news, I am loving my holiday break with no homework and until tomorrow, no kids during the day. I've done absolutely nothing and loving every minute of it!!
And I have to say that I am very irritated with all these damn Christians and their insistence that people say Merry Christmas as opposed to Happy Holidays. Don't they have anything better to do? Not to mention that there are so many other more pressing issues in the world today, so do we really have to spend so much time and energy forcing our beliefs down everyone esle's throat? If you want to say Merry Christmas to somebody than fucking say it, but don't try and force the rest of us to say it, you fuckwits. I mean, no matter what you choose to believe there are other people in this world that don't share your narrow religious view so get over it already!!!
JEBUS CHRIST!!!
Okay, I'm done ranting now. I'm gonna go listen to Marilyn Manson and see if the bf is online.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!

Hematology, Church, and Evil
Thursdays are my least favorite day of the week. I have Hematology and I hate it. Plus we have a test today on six chapters of Hemolytic anemias which isn't helping me want to go at all. I've been studying my ass off for it but despairing of memorizing all I have to remember for this test. I'm hoping we have a break in between lab and lecture so I can get a bit more studying in.
So, the eldest Drunken Midget went to church with her friend last night, one of those born again churches. She came home and went off for like an hour about everything they said. She was so pissed. The theme was homosexuality and how evil it is (we have an relative who is gay) and she was irate about it. She's all 'they are brainwashing these kids!' to which I replied, of course they are, they're Christians. She vehemently swore she would never attend another church gathering ever again. It was pretty funny.
Of course, having once been a born again Christian who thankfully escaped the evil clutches of Christianity, I could have told her that is the way it was going to be.
There is this sight on blogspirit called 'Christians Under Attack' that details all the ways in which Christians are persecuted against and killed around the world. Now, it seems to me that maybe, just maybe, Christians are under attack cuz of all the bad Karma the Christian religion has accrued by killing people in the name of god. For all the blame they throw at other religions for being 'evil' and killing in the name of their god, the Christian religion has killed millions of people in the name of their god so how is that any different? Or is it okay for Christians to slaughter people en masse because their god is the 'one true god'?
I mean the history of Christianity is littered with violence. There's god's command in the Old Testament to slaughter all, down to the last woman and child, who did not follow their religion, there is the Crusades, the Inquisition, the killing of abortion doctors and bombing of abortion clinics, and then this supposed 'holy war' in Iraq. The Christian religion is so stained with blood it's shameful.
And meanwhile, Jesus preached that we are to love our enemies and if we are hit on one cheek to turn the other so our enemy can smite that one too. He did not say, invade your enemy's country, slaughter your enemy, plunder the land's natural resources, and torture in Abu Graib (or however you spell it) those you take as prisoners.
On, and then there is that commandment that says, Thou shalt not kill. But then, maybe that only applies to other Christians. The Bible also says Thou shalt not steal, but god instructed the Hebrews to steal from the Egyptians during the Exodus so apparently the commandments are selectively applied.
Okay, I'm done ranting now, and my rant probably made little sense, but hell it's 4:30 in the morning so give me a break.

Murder, Rape and Pillage the Christian Way!
Good afternoon all! Thank you for coming back to listen (well, read) as I rant about why Christianity is not the one true religion. There are a lot of Biblical verses that make me wonder how Christians can claim that their god is a perfect, loving god. Here are just a couple of them:
Deuteronomy 2:34: ‘We took all his cities at that time, and we utterly destroyed the men, women, and little ones of every city; we left none remaining.’
Leviticus 31:17: The Hebrews were instructed to kill every man, woman, and child, except for the virgin girls. Those they were allowed to keep to rape whenever they pleased. In the Bible god used the phrase, ‘you may keep them as wives’ but they were taken against their will after their parents were slaughtered. If that’s what god intended marriage to be I want no part of it.
Additionally, these verses also illustrate great hypocrisy on the part of god and his children. What happened to the Commandment “Thou shall not kill.” Does that only apply to those that share your religious faith? In looking at god’s instructions to the Hebrews in Biblical times, it seems that not a single Commandment was intended to apply to anyone other than the Hebrews. They were instructed to steal from the Egyptians when fleeing Egypt after the Passover. They were instructed to slaughter and completely destroy all evidence of the neighboring nations and their religions. Is god so insecure that he has to kill everyone who doesn’t believe in him? I just don’t get it. How can anyone claim that this is the only true god?

Ello! Happy Yule! Yes, today is the Winter Solstice, known to Pagans as Yule. It is the day we celebrate the rebirth of the God and the return of the sun. After today, which is the shortest day of the year, the days will start getting longer. My children and I will have our Yule celebration tonight, and we will also celebrate Christmas with our extended family, who are all Catholic. My youngest is trying to get me to throw Chanukah in there too, but I think two celebrations are plenty.
Okay, so here is a little more of The 25 Days of Christmas, Pagan Style...
Let us take a moment to look at Jesus and the Christmas story:**The name Christ is the Aramaic form of the name Krishna and the stories of Jesus and Krishna are strikingly similar. Both contained The Star of the East and the wise men, and both men were born on the same day. The story of Krishna, however, was widely circulated five centuries before the birth of Jesus. Many scholars say that the stories of Jesus were rightly attributed to Christ (Krishna) but wrongly attributed to Jesus.
**Phrases such as ‘The Word brought to Earth’ or ‘The Word made flesh’ originated in the Pagan religions and was stolen by the Christians to describe Jesus.
**The exchanging of gifts on Christmas was also a pagan tradition long before the Christians adopted the Christmas story. Pagans exchanged gifts celebrating the rebirth of the God on the Winter Solstice as a baby to be nurtured by the Mother Goddess thousands of years before the three Magi traveled to Bethlehem.
One repeatedly finds that the stories and metaphors used are remarkably similar from religion to religion; why then do Christians claim that their religion is different from all others, thus being the one true religion?

A Correction
In response to a comment left by Mike, I would like to point out a misunderstanding. In order to prove my point I will repeat the quote exactly as I found it in Rescuing the Bible From Fundamentalism, by Bishop John Shelby Spong:
"Matthew quoted a text from Isaiah to prove the virgin birth tradition. Fortunately for Matthew's integrity, he quoted that Hebrew text in Greek, where the connotation of 'virgin' is present in the Greek word parthenos. However, if he had gone to the original Hebrew, he would have discovered that the connotation of virginity was not present in the original text of Isaiah. The Hebrew word for virgin was betulah. The word used in Isaiah is 'almah which means young woman. It does not mean virgin in any text of the Hebrew Bible in which it is used."
So, I may have made a mistake in my retelling of the facts, but that doesn't change the fact that Mary was in all probability not a virgin.

Mary's Virginity, Or Lack Thereof...
Good morning everyone! Hope you are all having a wonderful holiday season and thanks for tuning in to another episode of the Twenty Five Days…Pagan Style. I've been so busy I've missed quite a few days of blasphemy, so my apologies for that. I have a few minutes before the kids crawl out of bed and create the usual state of perpetual chaos so I thought I'd be productive. Goddess knows I won't accomplish anything after they wake up!
So then, let us dive right in. The crux of the entire Christian religion is the claim that Mary was a virgin, thus the miraculous birth and proof that Jesus is god right? Okay, now that you’re all with me on that, what if I were to tell you that Mary actually was NOT a virgin? If this were true it would then seem that Christianity is based on nothing more than a mistranslation.
You see, in the original Hebrew the word used to describe Mary was ‘almah which simply means a woman yet to marry. The Hebrew word for virgin is betulah, and the word ‘almah was never used to describe a virgin woman in Hebrew. Yet, when translating the Hebrew into Greek they used the Greek word parthenos which means virgin. Some people believe this to be an accident, but considering the fact that Jesus was not even deified until 500 years after the crucifixion I think it is much more likely that it was a cleverly calculated mistranslation. Either way, the miraculous ‘virgin’ birth of Jesus turns out to be not so miraculous after all.

Blasphemy--I have no idea what day it is!
I haven't been doing a very good job of keeping up with The Twenty Five Days of Christmas, Pagan Style, as you might have noticed. So, here is another day of blasphemy for ya.
First, has anyone heard of the story of Lot? For those of you unfamiliar with the Old Testament, Lot was the main character in the story of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorra. Let me set the stage: The aforementioned cities are rife with sin and immorality and eventually god catches wind of this. So he sends a couple of male angels to check out these rumors and see if they are true (I thought he was omnipotent?).
These angels show up at Lot’s door and he welcomes them into his home, but ::gasp:: the men of the city attempt to break down Lot’s door in order to rape them, (this story is often used in defense of demonizing homosexuality but really had more to do with gang rape), and he heroically prevents the angels from being raped. Being an ex-Christian I can attest to the fact that fundamentalist preachers often recite this story, lauding Lot as a great hero. However, what they leave out of the sermon is how Lot prevented god’s angels from being raped: He offered the gang of lustful, would be rapists his virgin daughters to rape instead of god’s messengers.
Incidentally, the angels possessed enough of their own power to protect themselves as illustrated by the fact that when the angry mob refused his daughters the angels struck them with blindness and they couldn’t find the door. Apparently they then got sick of feeling for it and went home.
I can imagine that some fundamentalists would argue that god only allowed Lot to offer his daughters up because he knew that the mob would not rape them, but the fact that god deemed it acceptable for Lot to do so without even a passing reprimand for how wrong it was still stands. It clearly illustrates the Biblical principle that women are considered to be the property of whatever male she lives with, and those men can do with ‘their women’ whatever they please.
Secondly, there are a couple more scriptures I would like to share lest my opinion be discredited due to a lack of New Testament references. Both of these scriptures appear in the supposed ‘New Covenant’ of god (Doesn’t that imply that he didn’t do it right the first time?):
I Corinthians 7:39: “A wife is bound by law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is at liberty to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord.” So, what they are saying is that if a woman leaves a man because he beats her (or any other reason), or he leaves her, she is bound to him by law until he eventually goes belly up? And men call us the ball and chain! Yeah, whatever.
I Corinthians 11:7-9: “For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. For man is not from woman, but woman from man. Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man.”
Uh-huh. If god truly intended me to blindly and silently serve some man, he (or she) wouldn’t have gifted me with such intelligence and an irrepressible need to be heard.

Blasphemy--Day Seven
Yes, I know, I missed a day so SUE ME! Or ask me arse, whichever you prefer... I've got finals going on and the mess has taken over my house and I just can't take it no more, no more, NO MORE! Okay, now that I've gotten that off my chest, welcome to another installment of The 25 Days of Christmas, Pagan Style. Now, I posted this once before a very long time ago so my apologies to you faithful readers who have already read it, but I figured I'd repeat it for my newer readers.
So everyone knows that the Bible declares Jesus to be God right? Well, what most people don't know is that Jesus was not deified until 500 years after his death. The Roman Emperor Constantine, a lifelong Pagan, decided that the church would have unrivaled power if it claimed to be the only way to salvation. So, in order to solidify his political power through the church, he destroyed all the gospels that portrayed Jesus as human and embellished those that seemed to allude to his divinity. Thus, the deification of Jesus was merely a political decision to increase the power Rome held over the masses.

Blasphemy--Day Five
Welcome back one and all to The 25 Days of Christmas, Pagan Style! So, is it just me or is the Christian God a bit misogynistic? Check out these verses:
Leviticus 5:29: If a ‘spirit of jealousy’ comes upon a man and he thinks his wife may be cheating on him, he is told to take her to the priest who will administer poison to her. If she survived she was innocent, if she died she was guilty. I wonder how many men poisoned their wives over nothing more than jealous insecurity because God commanded it.
I Corinthians 14:34, 35
“Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says. And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home, for it is shameful for women to speak in church.”
I Timothy 2:12-14
“And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived fell into transgression.”
Ephesians 5:22-24
“Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as also Christ is the head of the church; and he is the savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.”
I Peter 3:1
“Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives.”
And, last but not least:
I Peter 3:5
“For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror.”
Now, keep in mind that Sarah obeyed Abraham by lying; telling everyone that she was Abraham’s sister, for Abraham feared that the king would kill him to steal his beautiful wife. So, Sarah lied to save Abraham’s cowardly ass even though it meant she was sent to the king’s harem.
All throughout the Bible, women are referred to as chattel and property. Despite god’s claim to love all of his children, it is quite apparent that he held a very low opinion of women. I refuse to worship a god that sees me as ‘less than’ because I don’t have a penis.

Blasphemy--Day Four
Welcome! Life is progressing as usual in my world; the kids are chipping away at what little sanity I have left (No one should ever have to say things like, "I don't care how many bottles of Wite-Out there are, you can't use it to paint your hand!" and "Take your toe out of my fruit." These are the things that make me have like three strokes and a heart attack six times a day!), and finals are next week so I've been studying madly.
Yesterday, I mentioned the many religions that have some version of the story of Moses and the Ten Commandments in their mythology. This tendency is true for many other stories as well, including, but not limited to:
*The story of Adam, Eve (with different names of course), an apple, and the fall of man.
*The story of the Creation of the World in seven days; this originally came from the Indus Valley 7,000 years ago.
*The story of Daniel: In 1500 B.C.E a poem was written in Syria that evolved into the Biblical story of Daniel about 1,000 years later.
*The tales of Saul, David, Bathsheba, Solomon, and the Queen of Sheba were originally recorded in the Dravidic religion (the religion of the Indus Valley, which archeologists believe to be first religion practiced by humankind), and then later in Egypt during their empire (1580-1100 B.C.E.).
Now, fundamentalists will tell you that the similarities in these stories are due to Satan's attempt to discredit Christianity. They claim that all these other religions, religions that came to be long before their own, were close to the mark but not quite right because the worshippers were deceived by Satan. So what they are basically saying is the Christians got it right, thousands of years after the fact, and every one else out there is on Satan's payroll whether they admit it or not. Yet, if one actually studies the history of humankind and the development of religion, it is readily apparent that Christianity is merely one of the many diverging paths that grew from humankind's quest for Spirituality. Dig a little deeper and one finds that Christianity is nothing more than a religion taken from Paganism and adapted to benefit the (white male) ruling class. It is interesting to me that a vast majority of anthropologists, sociologists, and archeologists are not Christian but Deists or Pagans. It seems to me that in order to believe these ridiculous claims supposedly proving Biblical inerrancy one must suspend all logic and reason.
And, thanks for the link Nancy, I'll sign up as soon as I can and post a blog inviting everyone else to do so too.

Oops, Missed a Day
You'll have to forgive me for not posting on '25 Days of Christmas, Pagan Style' yesterday. I haven't been feeling well and just couldn't drag myself to the puter. Before I begin today though, I have to relate to you an incident that happened last night.
Going crazy from being trapped in this house from being sick, I decided to go to the local used bookstore last night just to get out for a bit. As usual, I was in the Wicca/Witchcraft/Eastern Spirituality section. Next to that section is the Christian section and there was a group of obnoxious, self righteous Christian's--the kind that want to bully you into following their God. So they're over there reading scriputre out loud-really loud--for the whole store to hear. When they got tired of that they decided to come into my section.
They start talking about how Wicca is from the Devil and one guy accidently brought home a Wicca book once and when he started reading it he began itching and convulsing so he knew it was 'of the Devil'. I'm just sitting there, ready to open up the Voodoo kit on the shelf next to me and start sticking pins all willy nilly, then one guy goes into how he took a class for a whole semester about Wicca and Eckenar and blah, blah, blah. Meanwhile I'm thinking that class must have been taught by a talking monkey cuz none of his 'facts' were actually factual. By this time I wanted to drop to my knees on the floor screaming 'Hallelujah, hallielujah, I've seen the light and turn away from the forces of Satan. PRAISE THE LORD!" And when they all started praising and praying I'd look at them and go "As if." And walk away. But, I didn't cuz I just wasn't feeling well, but it would have been reallly funny.
Okay, on with the blasphemy.
Having briefly mentioned the Ten Commandments the other day in our discussion of Dionysos, I thought we could expand upon that theme today. Many religions feature some type of story concerning a character with a code of laws written in stone.
*King Minos of Crete descended from Mt. Dicta with laws inscribed in stone*Hammurabi of the Babylonians received his laws written in stone from the god Shamash
*Zoroaster of the Persians came down from the mountain Ahura-Mazda with his laws in stone after his god appeared to him amid thunder and lightning (exactly like Moses did in the Bible)
The actual commandments themselves were also stolen from the Pagans. The Ten Commandments written in the Old Testament are nearly identical to the Sumerian law codes created between 2474 and 2398 B.C.E. which was well before the creation of the Jewish religion and the writing of the Old Testament.

Offensive Anyone?
Yes, I'm still sick and still bored and apparently offending everyone! Here are the lyrics to the South Park Christmas Song. If there's anything more offensive, I don't know what it is!
Mr. Garrison: I heard there is no Christmas
In the silly Middle East
No trees, no snow, no Santa Claus
They have different religious beliefs
They believe in Muhammad
And not in our holiday
And so every December
I go to the Middle East and say...
"Hey there Mr. Muslim
Merry fucking Christmas
Put down that book the Koran
And hear some holiday wishes.
In case you haven't noticed
It's Jesus's birthday.
So get off your heathen Muslim ass
and fucking celebrate.
There is no holiday season in India I've heard
They don't hang up their stockings
And that is just absurd!
They've never read a Christmas story.
They don't know what Rudolph is about
And that is why in December
I'll go to India and shout...
Hey there Mr. Hinduist
Merry fucking Christmas
Drink eggnog and eat some beef
And pass it to the missus.
In case you haven't noticed
It's Jesus's birthday
So get off your heathen Hindu ass
and fucking celebrate!
Now I heard that in Japan
Everyone just lives in sin
They pray to several gods
And put needles in their skin.
On December 25th
All they do is eat a cake
And that is why I go to Japan
And walk around and say...
Hey there Mr. Shintoist
Merry fucking Christmas
God is going to kick your ass
You infidelic pagan scum.
In case you haven't noticed
There's festive things to do
So lets all rejoice for Jesus
And Merry fucking Christmas to you.
On Christmas day I travel `round the world and say,
Taoists, Krishnas, Buddhists, and all you atheists too,
Merry Fucking Christmas, To You!
(Clapping)
Thank you Mr. hat

Blasphemy--Day Two
'Ello all! Welcome back to The 25 Days of Christmas, Pagan Style. I hope everyone is doing well this fine morining. Here in MN it's a bit cold, but after all, it is winter.
Yesterday I mentioned that a lot of the events and stories that occur in the Bible were stolen from Pagan religions. So, how is it then, that thse things happened to Biblical characters such as Moses, Daniel, even Jesus, when they apeared in Pagan myths centuries before anyone even thought to begin writing the Old Testament? For instance, let's start with the Pagan God Dionysos.
In the myths told about him Dionysos:
**Crossed the Red Sea dry-footed (like Moses).
**Had armies led by pillars of fire (as did Moses).
**Was depicted with rays of light streaming from his forehead (as Moses is often pictured).
**Descended from a mountain with a code of laws written in stone (think Moses and the Ten Commandments).
**Had a miraculous birth on December 25th (sounds a bit like Jesus).
**Was baptized (Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist).
**Fed a mulititude with a few loaves and fish (Jesus again).
**Entered a holy city on an ass (just like Jesus).
**Initiated the Last Supper as a sacrament (didn't Jesus do that?).
**Experienced suffering, death, and resurrection in order to save mankind. His followers mourned for his sacrificial death and on the third day ran through the streets with lighted torches crying 'He has risen'. Does any of that sound familiar to you? You got it! Jesus!
But, fundamentalists will still swear that these events happened only to the characters indicated in the Bible, proving once again that they prefer faith over facts.

25 Days of Blasphemy--Day One
Hola everyone and welcome to the first day of The 25 Days of Christmas, Pagan Style. I have a lot of information to share, so let's get started.
Now, first and foremost Christians stole most everything about their religion from the Pagans, including their holidays and many of the stories told in the Bible, stories that supposedly happened to actual Biblical figures. A lot of them predate the Old Testament by hundreds of years, but were passed off as actual history by the writers of the Bible. We will get into the stories tomorrow, but today I'd like to focus on the holidays.
Christmas: The Christians celebrate Christmas cuz it's Jesus' birthday right? Yeah, except no one really knows when Jesus was born, so why did they pick December 25 for this major holiday? For two reasons. They chose December to combat the Pagan holiday of Yule which celebrates the Winter Solstice, and they picked the 25th because it was the birthday of a major Pagan God, Dionysos. They were hoping to draw Pagans into their religion by copying their holidays. There are many other similarities between Jesus and Dionysos, but I'll get into that in a subsequent post.
Easter: Celebrates the death and resurrection of Jesus right? Pretty coincidental that this happened at the same time as the Wiccan festival of Ostara. Ostara celebrated the Spring Equinox with a festival honoring the Goddess of Spring, Oestre. So once again, the Christians stole a holiday and claimed it as their own. Didn't you ever wonder what the hell bunnies and eggs had to do with the Crucifixion?
All Saints Day: This is mainly a Catholic holiday, but all the holidays were determined by the Catholic church anyway so I'm going to count it. All Saints Day is November 1, which also happens to be Samhain, the Witches New Year (Halloween is actually All Hallow's Eve, the eve of Samhain, much like our New Year's Eve).
In addition to the holidays the Christians also stole the idea for the 'Christmas tree' from the Pagans, who decorated their homes with a tree for Yule. I read a blog the other day by some woman bitching cuz they wouldn't call the White House tree a Christmas tree but opted for 'holiday tree' instead, and she was all 'Damn it, it's a Christmas tree.' I left a little comment for her informing her the ACTUAL origination of the Yule tree.
So yeah, seeing as how Christians stole most of their shit from the Pagans I really have a hard time believing that theirs is the only true religion.
Okay then, more tomorrow!
Happy Holidays!

Prelude to 25 Days of Blasphemy
Before I officially kick off 'The Twenty-Five Days of Christmas, Pagan Style' I have a disclaimer and a few comments to share. OH, and please forgive any spelling errors, I'm in a huge hurry! I'll spell check later.
First and foremost, the views and opinions expressed in this blog will be very offensive to those who prefer faith over facts. So, if you can't handle the truth, I suggest you go elsewhere.
Secondly, I would like to say that I am well aware of the average Christian's response to my rants over this season of loving and sharing. They will either pray that God will smite me where I stand for my blasphemy or they will pray that God will remove the scales from my eyes so that I would no longer be decieved by Satan. I can say this with great confidence as I was once a devout Evangelical. For four-plus years I was the epitome of the 'good Christian'. I studied my Bible daily, attended services two days a week, the women's Bible study every Thursday morning, and I shoved my religious convictions down every unsaved throat just as Jesus told me to do.
Unfortunately, as a devout follower of Christ I got it into my pretty little head that I should actually read the book this religion was based upon, which I did, from Genesis to Revelations. Three times. Let me tell you what I learned: Knowledge will kill faith every time. With each successive day I lost a little more respect for this so called god. The Old Testament depiction of god is that of an insecure, sadistic, misogynistic, murderous god who suffers from violent mood swings. Yes, I said it, god is bipolar! At least the one in the Bible.
Yet, I truly loved the Jesus I knew from the pastor's sermons so I toughed it out till the end of the Old Testament. My pastor, who had originally discouraged my interest in the Old Testament--cuz, let's be honest, it isn't a very flattering image of a supposed all perfect, infallible being--well he assured me that the wrath of god was quenched with the blood of Christ and the New Testament reflected the great love of god. Thus, I eagerly embarked upon an in-depth study of the New Testament only to have every remaining bit of faith crushed from me by the time I reached Revelations. I finally realized that I could no longer offer my devotion to this 'god'.
For a long time the fear of eternal damnation kept me from looking into any other religions but eventually I found the courage to disobey this god in whom I no longer believed. After researching Wicca and Buddhism I decided to look into antiquity in order to discover the natural progression of religion from the very beginnings of human kind. What I learned served to convince me that not only is Christianity NOT the one true religion, but furthermore, it was nothing more than the result of the politicizing of religion by Aryan invaders who wished to conquer and subjugate the native peoples, first of the Far East, then into the Near East and Europe.
So, in short, I know what the hell I'm talking about!

Twenty Five Days of Blasphemy
Coming soon: The Twenty Five Days of Christmas, Pagan Style! Yes, twenty five days of why the Christian God is NOT the 'One True God'. I did something similar to this a couple years back on my old AOL blog and it was wildly popular so I thought I'd offer the new and improved version for this holiday season. If all goes well, it will kick off on December 1st.

Pro-life My Ass
Everyday on my way to school I see this big billboard in some dude's front lawn that says "God Is Pro-life" and it pisses me off everytime I go by. Yeah, God is Pro-life unless he covets your oil or hates your god, in which case he'll invade your country and KILL YOU ALL! Why is it murder to abort an embryo but not murder to take a life in war?

Jesus and the Goddess
So many women today are desperately trying to bring the Goddess back into Christianity by recapturing the sacred feminine. While I think that learning how Christianity should have been but for the oppressive actions of a patriarchal society can be enlightening and empowering, it is impossible to force the Goddess back into Christianity. She has been so far removed from the concept of the Christian trinity that the true message the Creator was trying to teach us has been irretrievably lost. From the earliest incarnation of Christianity men twisted and warped the message of the Almighty in order to suppress and control women. The Bible illustrates this clearly to anyone who risks being accused of blasphemy and heresy and delves deeply into the entire text as opposed to focusing solely on the passages the preachers set forth in the Sunday sermon. How can one claim that the God as depicted by Christians is not sexist when there are verses such as “A woman must always keep her head covered as she was made from man and not in the glory of
